Why is the Referral Status not being updated in the Customer Referrals screen?

If you have the Referral/Affiliates extension installed and have had customers already refer other customers to your site, you might not see an update to the  Status column on the Customer Referrals page in the Admin-Panel if you have no Customer Behavior Spending rules defined. In this case you'll see the status as "Message Sent" with no further updates.

Once you define and enable a Customer Behavior rule to award customers on referral actions (sign-up, referral makes first/any order), the referral status will be updated once that specific action occurs through the referral.
